A break in a line means the collector was not running, so nothing was
recorded. Collector liveness is only known from
2026-07-24 onward —
earlier outages cannot be distinguished from a steady count.
These are CONNECTIONS, not people, and they are unfiltered.
This chart shows exactly what Icecast reported, which is why it can read
higher than the
listener map. Two reasons, both ordinary:
one person may hold several connections at once (three browser tabs are
three connections), and this page does not exclude machines — the maps
leave out datacenter, VPN, Tor and crawler traffic, and connections too
short to be listening. The map answers “how many people”; this
answers “how much was served”.
The difference between the two is not a fault to be fixed. It is kept
deliberately, because an unfiltered count is the independent cross-check
that first revealed the maps were over-counting — and a measurement
that agrees with another by construction cannot check it.
